5 Ways to Accessorize your Kitchen Island for Fall

5 Ways to Accessorize your Kitchen Island for Fall

I love decorating my home for each new season. Fall decorating is so much fun because it can be so versatile. For instance, last season the black and white buffalo check pattern was very trendy. This year, I decided to bring back the warm red, orange and yellow fall tones. If you’re planning on decorating your kitchen, I’ve found a few fall accessories that will play nicely off of your own personal style.

Galvanized Tray

I purchased a galvanized tray for my mom last year and she decorates it every season. For this season, she placed red, orange and yellow fabric leaves into the base of each tier along with acorns and pieces of corn. She then placed ceramic pumpkins, scarecrow and pilgrim bear figurines on top of the fall foliage. The end result made for the perfect autumn scene and a creative piece for her kitchen island.

Glass Jars

Clear jars are a simple and classy way to spruce up your countertop. Orange and white pumpkins make for great filler in these jars. Pinecones, colored leaves and potpourri would make a great filler as well. The scented potpourri will create a crisp aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin in your home. Another fun idea would be to fill the jars with your family’s favorite sweet treats to snack on all season long. Glass jars are stylish and add the perfect amount of cozy charm in the kitchen.

Lanterns

Lanterns are a beautiful festive touch that look good in any kitchen no matter how you decorate. The inside of lanterns really shine with fairy lights placed in them. A tall candle or multiple sized candles create a warm and cozy ambience. Red berry garland can be added around the outside of the lantern for a pop of color. Traditional fall lanterns are a staple in autumn decorating that will never go out of style.

Centerpiece

One popular way to create a centerpiece is by finding a woven basket or wood tray to use as your base. The next step would be filling up your basket or tray with an assortment of fall foliage, pumpkins, candles and wooden blocks. It’s a collage featuring all of your favorite decor placed together in one cohesive arrangement. The combination of all of the colors and pieces in one place will capture the eye of your friends and family. A colorful centerpiece will bring your island to life and elevate your next dinner party.

Candles

Candles are another piece that will never go out of style. I like to go back and forth from lighting scented Bath & Body candles  (linking my current favorite!) to turning on LED flameless candles. Candles are soothing and create a tranquil environment in any space. The candle scents (especially pumpkin!) work great in a kitchen setting where those smells are prevalent. Candles stands are very versatile and come in all shapes, sizes and colors that look unique in every home. However you display your candle, it will add character and style to your island.
