Capes For a Cause

Cambria Countertops was proud to be a sponsor for the "Capes for Kids" event held Thursday night in our Maryland Heights Showroom. Several teams of designers came together to create capes based off different superheroes. The capes will be given to children in local Children's Hospitals who are terminally ill. Each attendee brought a new toy as a donation to Friends of Kids with Cancer. There were all kinds of fun toys ranging from teddy bears to dolls to board games and toy cars.

Superheros Galore

The teams worked diligently creating beautiful capes that were well thought out. Each team worked very hard and added on pieces up until the very last minute. They wanted their capes to look just right because they were going to such a wonderful cause. The capes represented a variety of superheros such as The Powerpuff Girls, Batman, Robin, The Flash, Captain America, Superman, The Daredevil, Thor and The Hulk, just to name a few.

Unique Accessories

Each cape had specific elements that represented the superhero very well. There were colorful capes that had catch phrases and pretend superhero weapons on them (ex. Thor's hammer). There were many design teams that took the challenge a step further and created accessories like eye masks! There was certainly a talented group of individuals who worked hard because they knew that each cape would bring so much joy to the children.

Each team had a limited number of time to create these one of a kind pieces. They had met prior with their groups and sketched out ideas of how they envisioned their completed designs. Each team was sure to design the cape from a child-like perspective. The night of the competition, they came with all of their feathers, fabrics, beads, construction paper and glue guns. Capes for Kids was such an amazing event for a great cause!
